This post is going to be on the article titled “Girl.” This is series of statements that relate to the duties of a women. I assume it describes the duties of a woman in Jamaica. The speaker of the appears to be a motherly figure with attitude or boldness. She seems to be relaying the duties of a woman in their society to her daughter or someone coming of age.
The way the speaker list all the duties of a woman it seems that woman are to take a behind the scenes roll in maintaining the house. There’s a lot of housekeeping and maintenance that she needs to do. I think this is somewhat reflective of a woman but more now days a reflection of the duties of anyone. They don’t have to be just women that do these things. Anyone can do them.
This story has traces of a political structure being taught but it seems to be more geared towards a social structure being taught. Like I said earlier, it seems to be being told to a girl coming of age and how she should act around others and procedure on how to do womanly duties. It reflects the working class of this society. The what to dos and what not to dos.
